2019 UIM V2 World Powerboat Championship season takes off in Malta

The season opener of the Voomquest Championship will be held at St Paul’s Bay between April 25 and 28.

Following last year’s successful launch of the one-design class of SVR-27 Canopy Race Boats, the UIM (Union Internationale Motonautique) awarded the series promoters Voomquest a World Championship title for 2019 at their General Assembly last October in Lebanon.

St Paul’s Bay, Malta, will play host to the first Grand Prix of the 2019 UIM V2 World Championship this weekend, 26-28 April. Spread over 4 days, the events will include a combination of Official Testing, Pole Position Trials and 3 full Grand Prix races over a course of 3.1 Nautical Miles. To spice things up for fans and Pilots the VQ race course design also includes the introduction of a Penalty Lane.

Voomquest is an organisation entirely based in Malta that delivers multiple offshore powerboat racing events each year in various exciting locations in Malta and internationally. These races are undertaken under the new racing class V2 and regulated by the world governing body for all Powerboating and Aquabike/Jet Ski activities, the Union Internationale Motonautique (UIM).

V2 is a brand new single class championship made entirely of beautifully engineered identical Chaudron Malta 27’ boats. The SVR-27 design vision brings to life the factory’s understanding of successful racing in Europe and the USA to make an affordable and sustainable class of racing. Built on the design of 5-times UIM World Champion Aaron Ciantar with the precision of the builders at the 8-times UIM Manufacturer World Championship Title, V2 is redefining the world of powerboat racing.
