Benetti closed out the month of November with a launch. The 206’7” (63-meter) megayacht Metis slipped into the waters outside of its Livorno, Italy shipyard for the first time.
Fully custom, Metis is for a client from Germany. In fact, the owner, present for the launch, expressed his joy over the milestone. “I am particularly satisfied with the unique owner’s cabin, which represents the perfect example of customization and excellence,” he shares. Customization is a good word, considering the suite spans 1,744 square feet (162 square meters) on the upper deck. In fact, moments after landing on the helipad, he can be inside Metis’ master suite. It includes a lounge, complete with TV. Windows nearly all around the entire deck make it even more inviting. Of course, the owner also has alfresco space all to himself, 592 square feet (55 square meters).
With a beam of 35 feet (10.6 meters), Metis features styling by Benetti as well as Giorgio Cassetta. Inside, Bannenberg & Rowell created some especially noteworthy—unusual, too—areas. For example, a children’s playroom sits on the main deck, with a twin cabin and connected nanny’s cabin right nearby. These are in addition to the typical saloon and formal dining area. Though, “typical” is not really the right word for Metis. Bannenberg & Rowell arranged the beach club, main saloon, and upper-deck saloon a bit off center. In fact, according to Benetti, they’re each 30 degrees off the customary layout. This provides purposely different views of the seascapes.
Whether guests are in the main saloon or their staterooms (four of them) below decks, they have a contemporary ambiance to enjoy. The owner selected Birgit Otte Interior, a German design firm, for the decor. Metis makes good use of bleached oak, along with leather inserts and carbon fiber accents.
One more highlight of Metis is the gym. Franco Fusignani, Benetti’s CEO, made special mention of it during the launch ceremony. It’s because the 215-square-foot (20-square-meter) space came about during a request by the owner during the build process.
