Italian shipyard Otam has announced the launch of its brand new 25.85-metre full custom motor yacht Otam 85; which was completed at its Genoa-based shipyard ahead of schedule. She will make her official debut at the upcoming Cannes Yachting Festival.
Otam mechanical engineer and CEO Gianfranco Zanoni collaborated with Umberto Tagliavini from Marine Design & Services on the unique naval design, engineering and semi-open composite hard top of this one-off fast cruiser. The owners wanted a custom-built unit that could convert into an open day boat with ample entertainment and relaxation areas.
Otam 85 features two large master-suite cabins, one in the bow; the second full-beam master-suite in the centre of the yacht, both of which have an en-suite bathroom. The interior design was also a joint effort between Otam and the Paris-based design firm Joseph Dirand Architecture represented by Maxime Foster. Further seating and relaxation spaces can be found in the living room and dining area, which also features a guest bathroom. Crew quarters, situated in the bow, can be independently accessed from the VIP and guest areas.
Matteo Belardinelli, Sales & Communication Manager for Otam, explained; “The genesis of the 85 GTS goes back to the 2017 edition of the Cannes Yachting Festival. We were presenting the OTAM 80, which raised a lot of interest because of its performance and its second, full-beam master suite in the centre of the yacht. A number of clients expressed their interest in a ‘different and open or semi-open’ version of that yacht, which was the starting point for our R&D.”
Also joining the team was Max Riedl from the German company Cornelsen & Partner who represented the owners’ technical surveyor; and Damien Sauvage from Sauvagepowerboats acting as the commissioning supervisor.
Powered by twin 2600hp MTU engines and two Arneson transmission systems, while Otam 85 can reach and exceed her initial top speed of 45 knots and cruising speed of 35 knots.
