Skripnik Design’s new 37m foiling superyacht, you can call her “Russian Rocket”
The concept of high-speed foiling craft is not a new invention. For decades, passenger ferries and patrol craft have utilised these protrusions in order to achieve a higher speed and a generally more comfortable ride, but this technology remains to be introduced in the world of motor yachts on a grander scale. The Moscow design studio Skripnik Design has recently revealed their version of what such a luxury superyacht could look like with the new 37-metre concept named Rocket.
At full speed, Rocket will reach between 50 and 60 knots of boat speed, with the lift associated with these speeds reducing the vessel’s drag to a mere 1.7 metres. Drag is significantly reduced and so too the exposed hull surface to the sea which will make for a smoother ride.
Several hydraulic solutions are designed to transform Rocket from race mode to lifestyle mode. The flybridge is covered with a glass panel that can be raised when the deck is in use, or lowered to create a smooth and flush surface when at high speeds. Additionally, the swim platform neatly disappears when underway and gently slides out to reveal a big bathing area when at anchor.
