Two new chartplotters from the Garmin

Garmin, world leader in satellite navigation, presents two new chart plotters: GPSMAP 1222 Touch and 1222xsv Touch. The new touchscreen chart plotters, also available with the echosounder module integrated in the xsv version, are clear in both day and night display with the large 12 “light display.

Both versions are equipped with a high sensitivity 10 Hz GPS / GLONASS receiver that updates the direction and position 10 times per second allowing you to view the boat’s movements smoothly.

Wireless connectivity it is possible to make the most of the potential of the innovative ActiveCaptain™ application that allows you to connect the Garmin Marine chartplotters to the mobile network and access a new world of contents: consult, purchase, update and synchronize the nautical cartography; update the on-board devices quickly to the latest available software version; receive Smart Notification, calls and SMS directly on the chartplotter display; view and control the chartplotter from any position on board the boat thanks to the smartphone or tablet; connect with the ActiveCaptain community to get updated information on marinas and new points of interest, thanks to updated feedback from thousands of other users; plan the navigation in advance from the comfort of home; Quickly and quickly download and share bathymetry from Quickdraw™ Community and automatically synchronize routes and waypoints stored on the chartplotter to review all data from anywhere on your mobile device.

But the connection possibilities do not end here! Total compatibility with the Garmin Marine Network, you can share the echo sounder images, maps, user data, radar images, camera recordings and images of the innovative Panoptix with the various connected units. In addition, NMEA 2000, NMEA 0183 and Ethernet connectivity allows interfacing with multiple systems including onboard autopilot, digital switching, VHF, AIS, radar and many more.

The xsv models are equipped with an integrated 1 kW CHIRP sonar module and CHIRP ClearVü function, the high-frequency technology that returns extremely sharp and detailed images of objects, structures and fish beneath the boat, and SideVü, an aid precious to see what happens to the sides of the boat thanks to incredibly clear and high resolution images.

All GPSMAP models are supplied with a pre-loaded global basemap and support the BlueChart® g2 Vision™ cartography, also in HD version, which allows advanced functions such as high resolution satellite images, perspective views and 3D visualization above and below sea level, photos aerial ports, bays and marinas and the innovative Auto Guidance 3.0 technology that automatically processes the best route.

The new models of the GPSMAP series also include specific functions for sailing such as Laylines, Pre-Race Guidance, Race Timers, Starting lines and provide new data fields dedicated to the sailing world as Wind Rose, Heading Vectors and COG, Direction, wind speed and tide data.

These new Garmin chartplotters integrate an ANT + connection to communicate with the quatix® 5 nautical smartwatch, the gWind ™ Wireless 2 wind transducer and the GNX ™ Wind display.

In addition, all the models with integrated sonar module have the new totally free functionality Quickdraw™ Contours, which allows you to trace your HD bathymetry in total autonomy with a detail every 30 cm.

The new GPSMAP 1222 Touch and 1222xsv Touch models will be available from the first quarter of 2018 at a price of € 2,800 and € 3,000 respectively.
