Amels has introduced its latest addition to the Limited Editions range: the Amels 60 yacht. Amels has joined forces with Espen Øino on the exterior design of the 60-metre yacht; which is now under construction and available for delivery in the spring of 2022.
The naval architecture will feature a brand new hull form that has been jointly developed by the Dutch yard and Damen’s in-house research laboratory and is designed to provide a balance of full displacement comfort and fuel efficiency.
Yacht designer Espen Øino commented: “The Amels 60 is a package that no-one else can offer at this time. It’s a very well thought-through design where we incorporate all the experience Amels has as a builder and we as designers. I think it is truly a design that reflects the future… As a naval architect and as a yacht designer; I like how the Amels 60 optimises the waterline lengths which increases the length to beam ratio. This is a very efficient hull form, which in combination with the hybrid propulsion; makes the Amels 60 quite unique in this size and range of vessels.”
A hybrid propulsion system has been developed for the Amels 60: This Hybrid by Amels technology will allow the Amels 60 to cruise at up to seven knots with electrical propulsion motors and will reduce noise, vibration, fuel consumption, maintenance costs and harmful emissions. She will be able to reach a top speed of 15.5 knots and have a transatlantic range of 4,500 nautical miles whilst eco-cruising at 13 knots with selective catalytic reduction filters in continuous operation.
Rose Damen, Managing Director of the Damen Shipyards’ Yachting division explained. “The Amels 60 has a future-proof hybrid package that our clients can rely on. No full displacement superyacht of this size can match the Amels 60’s comfort, quality and efficiency in such a cost-effective design. We developed pragmatic technology that works invisibly in the background to deliver maximum efficiency, minimum impact on our environment, with the widest operating flexibility.”
Amels has entrusted the London-based Studio Indigo with the interior design concept of the Amels 60. Thanks to her generous interior volume of 830 GT; up to 12 guests can be accommodated for across her six cabins as well as a crew of 12 and a captain. A large sundeck, swim platform and fold-out balconies in the owner’s suite will also be featured onboard.
Meanwhile, Founder and Creative Director of Studio Indigo Mike Fisher explains. “We refined the GA to make the space as ergonomically efficient as possible, generating a layout that seeks to maximise the perception of space and flow. This was achieved by opening up the views and vistas between spaces to make them feel bigger, lighter and brighter.”
He continues. “The interiors are chic and contemporary, using a rich variety of fabrics and textures throughout, allowing the guests on board to experience different atmospheres that surprise and delight as you walk through the Amels 60. Consistency of materials, architectural detailing and form means spaces flow easily into the next, thereby creating the illusion of endless space.”
