Raymarine introduces Element S, a new limited-edition plotter series with a fair price tag…
The new Raymarine chartplotter is available in 7, 9 and 12 inch screen diagonals. The display is weatherproof and should ensure good readability through high contrast and high brightness.
The models 7S and 9S have a resolution of 800 by 480 and the model 12S by 1280 by 800 pixels. Control is via the buttons on the right edge of the case, there is no touch function. AIS and radar data can be overlayed, as well as NMEA2000 engine data on the display.
Echosounder or fishfinder can also be connected according to the manufacturer, but the Element S series does not support high-resolution sonar technology. This is also less important for sailors and owes much to the concept of the Plotter series of delivering simple functionality at a fair price.
So it seems only consistent that the Navis of the series are operated with a reduced version of the LightHouse operating system. Instead of LightHouse 3.9, the Element S series plotters ship with LightHouse Sport. The version dispenses with display of thermal images, installation of apps, augmented reality, connection of SmartDevices via Wi-Fi and touch function.
LightHouse NC-2, Navionics and C-Map cards are supported. The plotters can be mounted on the bulkhead or via a bracket. Price from 450 €.
