Ritz-Carlton Renames First Cruise Ship

The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection is changing the name of its first vessel. Initially named Azora, the new yacht will now be known as Evrima when it debuts next year.

The cruise line confirmed that the Greek name, which roughly translates to “discovery,” was chosen to tie in with the ship’s aim to immerse travelers in “exceptional experiences.”

News of the name change comes on the heels of the announcement that the ship‘s inaugural voyage was pushed back four months, from February to June 2020, due to ongoing issues with the Astillero Hijos de J. Barreras shipyard in Vigo, Spain. The ship was originally floated out in October of 2018.

When it debuts, Evrima will be capable of carrying 298 passengers in 149 all-balcony suites. An identical sister ship, currently unnamed, was ordered earlier this year and is scheduled to arrive in 2021.
