The 92nd UIM General Assembly with President Dr. Raffaele Chiulli in the chair will bring together the leaders of the international Powerboat Sport in Qingdao for a week’s meetings and exchanges from 13th to 20th October. The Chinese Water Sports Administration (CWSA) is hosting this year’s UIM General Assembly. They will welcome the members of the UIM Council and Executive Committee as well as all the members of UIM’s Commissions, Committees, Working Groups and Delegates of the National Authorities affiliated to the International Powerboat Federation.
One of the highlights of the forthcoming UIM General Assembly are the elections for the UIM Presidency, with Dr. Raffaele Chiulli standing for re-election, as well as the elections for three Council positions and for two seats of the Pleasure Navigation Commission.
Another focus of the discussions in the expert Commissions and Committees will be the rule change proposals for the new season, brought forward through the National Authorities and UIM’s internal instances.
In terms of growth, the UIM Youth Development Program has been adopted by a series of Member Federations in 2019 who have established Training Centers where the three level UIM Propstars Program is implemented in the Offshore, Circuit and Aquabike/Jetski disciplines. The UIM Training Program and the support that comes with it is one of the most appreciated initiatives that attracts new Member Federations from countries which have not historically been active in the powerboat sport to join the UIM.
On the competition side, the UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championship will return to China for the first time since 2016, thanks to the close cooperation between the UIM Aquabike Promoter H2O Racing and the Chinese Powerboat Federation. The third round of the 2019 UIM World Championship will be held in Qingdao, the venue of the 92nd UIM General Assembly, with the final race on Sunday 13th October coinciding with the beginning of the UIM Meetings.
UIM-ABP Aquabike World Championships’ all main disciplines will feature on the program: Runabout GP1, Ski Division GP1, Ski Ladies GP1 and Freestyle.
